OHD Studios Louisville will be hosting a series of Dolly Grip Workshops led by industry veteran Mike Rodia, who is the IATSE Local 492 Vice President and a Dolly Grip!
Whether youโre a newcomer to the industry or an experienced professional, these incredible workshops offer a unique opportunity to learn from industry professionals and gain valuable insights!

Meet your instructor: Mike Rodia
Mike Rodia has been a filmmaker since 1994 with experience including everything from Blockbuster features, TV series and live events. His first uncredited dolly grip job was in 1995 on a feature film called โDrop Dead Rockโ. In 1997 he joined IATSE Local 52 in New York City. He spent almost 8 seasons as a company grip on โLaw & Orderโ, five of which he was the B dolly grip.
In 2007 he moved to Nashville and joined Local 492 and immediately began work as the B dolly grip on the โHannah Montana Movieโ.
In 2012, a pilot came to Nashville entitled โNashvilleโ that he was the A dolly grip for. The next year started a 6 season run for the local film community.
In addition to dolly, grip and crane work Mike has also been the Vice President of Local 492 in Nashville since 2017. He has offered numerous dolly grip classes in the past as well as an Adjunct professor at Belmont University teaching grip/electric. Mike represents Local 492 at the Middle Tennessee Central Labor Council (CLC/AFL.CIO) and is an advocate for working families and union labor in his local community.
In 2023, Mike joined forces with a local camera support company, Systematik Technocrane, and they purchased a 38 foot Scorpio techno crane and now works primarily as a dolly grip or Crane Tech.
