Actress & Author: Adrienne Barbeau
Adrienne began her career in 1963 with the San Jose Civic Light Opera. After graduating high school, she traveled with a musical comedy revue, entertaining our servicemen on Army bases throughout Southeast Asia. In 1965, she moved to New York where she made her Broadway debut as Tevyeโs second daughter, Hodel, inย Fiddler on the Roof. A Tony nomination and a Theatre World Award for her creation of Rizzo in the original Broadway production ofย Greaseย led her back to California and the role of Bea Arthurโs daughter, Carol, in the hit seriesย Maude.
Since then she has become a best selling author, a recording artist, and the star of numerous features, films for television, concert performances, musicals and plays.
Movie fans know her best for her performances inย The Fog, Escape From New York, Creepshow, Swamp Thing, Back to School,ย andย Cannonball Run. She appeared in the Academy Award winningย ARGO.ย ย Her recent releases includeย Early Retirement,ย for which she won a Best Supporting Actress Award at the Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival,ย Unearth,ย andย Oddities.
Adrienne has a Golden Globe nomination and over 450 screen performances to her credit. She starred as Ruthie, the Snake Dancer, on HBOโs fascinating series,ย Carnivale. She was Oswaldโs mom onย Drew Carey, Victoria Graysonโs mom onย Revenge, and Venusโs mom onย Sons of Anarchy.ย Daytime viewers know her asย Suzanne Stanwyck onย General Hospital. Her recent television appearances include 9-1-1,ย Criminal Minds,ย Greyโs Anatomy,ย American Horror Stories,ย and two Netflixย series:ย ย A.J. and the Queen,ย starring RuPaul, andย Cowboy Be-bop,ย starring John Cho.
Having starred in over 25 theatrical productions in the U.S. and Canada, Adrienne spent most of 2015 playing Berthe, Pippinโs grandmother, in the National Tour of Pippin, singing โNo Time At Allโ as she hung upside down from a trapeze 15 feet in the air โ no net.
Off camera, Adrienne is the voice of Catwoman inย Batman, The Animated Series, Ms. Simone inย Scooby-Dooย on Zombie Island, and Ginnyโs Mom inย Curious George Go West, Go Wild. She can be heard in a myriad of video games:ย God of War,ย Halo 4,ย andย Fallout 76ย among them. She also provides narration for the visually impaired on many films, documentaries, and television series; itโs one of her favorite forms of voiceover work.
Adrienne is the author of fourย books: the best-selling memoirย There Are Worse Things I Could Do; the urban fantasyย Vampyres of Hollywoodย and its comedy romance sequels,ย Love Bitesย andย Make Me Dead.
Adrienne just completed a thriller for TUBI, premiering later this summer; she appeared as Myron Bolitarโs mom in Harlan Cobenโsย Shelterย for Amazon Prime, an animated version of a very successful super-hero film for Warner Bros., and a soon-to-be released new video game.
